Anti-incinerator Speech

Unbelievably, the Finance Committee of the HKSAR government may endorse the building of a highly-polluting, old-fashioned super-sized incinerator in possibly the most beautiful part of Hong Kong. A Poem for Hong Kong on 18th November 2014

To the Chinese Dragon

Our home is the lustrous Pearl

you balance between clenched teeth.

Tonight you could swallow us whole

in one monstrous gulp.

If Dragon so pleases.

Tonight you could itchy tail

whip our bad weather clouds

back into servile shape.

If Dragon so pleases.

But those pearls are our sons and daughters -

precious and raised by river flows along

banks and borders which will one day,

will make mulch of us all.

String us together with good blood

under a merciful moon.

Clasp us, wear us around your neck.
